The City of Lawrenceburg Regional Economic Development Grant Program was established in 2006 by the Lawrenceburg
City Council to provide funding and administrative support to the Economic Development environment in the Southeastern
Indiana region. The idea was to share additional gambling revenues with our neighboring Counties to be used to create new
jobs, sustain our current employment base and add to the value of real property in our Southeastern Indiana region.
The counties currently included are Franklin, Decatur, Bartholomew, Jackson, Jennings, Jefferson, Union, Ripley,
Fayette, and Dearborn.
So far grants totaling $17,616,955 have been made of which $12,635,105 has been paid while $4,954,267 is pending.
There is as much as $12,383,045 available for the 2008 Grant Period which begins in January, 2008.
Grants have been made to assist with the development of infrastructure for the Greensburg/Decatur County Honda Plant
development ($10,000,000) and the Cummins Engine Plant improvement ($1,000,000 plus) just to name a few. Industrial
Parks in several excellent locations throughout the region have been developed as well as infrastructure improvements
that elevate our properties to the prime category.
For 2008, our Committee stands ready to assist our region in developing additional sites, making our regional development
component more attractive, or providing selective support to individual projects to finalize the process of meeting our development goals.
The sites located in Southeastern Indiana enjoy an excellent road network, expressway access, railroad service and a
strong and skilled work force. Major international airports are located close by including Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky
International near Dearborn County and Indianapolis International Airport in Indianapolis. Sites range from several acres
up to several hundred acres and many sites are ready to build on.
Our Committee and the City of Lawrenceburg Mayor and City Council are committed to making our region a vibrant,
productive growth engine for the State of Indiana. It is our desire to create jobs for our future citizens and to provide
a future tax base that is affordable while at the same time able to provide those necessary government services that
make our communities better places to live.
